“Ninth Master! Chengxuan didn’t mean it. Please be magnanimous and forgive him this once!”
Bai Jiangong hurriedly stepped forward to plead for his son, his face covered in cold sweat.
Bai Hedu’s long, well-defined fingers tapped lightly against the armrest of his wheelchair. His expression remained indifferent as he prepared to speak.
Then someone suddenly pressed down on his hand.
Yun Manxia spoke before he could.
“He was acting so arrogant just now! He said Ninth Master wasn’t even worthy of shining his shoes. Now he thinks saying he didn’t mean it will make everything go away? There’s no way he’s getting off that easily!”
Bai Chengxuan’s expression changed dramatically.
“Manxia?!”
He stared at her in disbelief.
Hadn’t Yun Manxia once been hopelessly in love with him?
Why did she now look as though she wanted to destroy him?
Yun Manxia could not be bothered with him. After speaking, she turned toward Bai Hedu.
“Right, Honey?”
Her beautiful eyes widened as she stared at him, looking as though she would immediately cover his mouth if he dared disagree.
It was obvious that she truly had no intention of letting Bai Chengxuan off.
Bai Hedu lowered his gaze to the two small hands resting on top of his.
The back of his hand felt unusually warm, yet Yun Manxia seemed completely unaware of it.
For some inexplicable reason, his mood improved.
He withdrew his gaze and spoke in a deep, measured voice.
“Of course he won’t get off that easily.”
“Ninth Master…!”
Bai Jiangong and Bai Chengxuan turned deathly pale.
Why was Ninth Master so willing to indulge everything Yun Manxia said?
Yun Manxia smiled.
She narrowed her eyes at Bai Chengxuan and rubbed her hands together eagerly.
“Then, Honey, how should we punish him?”
Bai Hedu asked, “How do you want to punish him?”
His tone carried a faint trace of indulgence.
Yun Manxia’s eyes instantly lit up.
“I get to decide?”
“Of course,” Bai Hedu replied.
A terrible premonition suddenly rose in Bai Chengxuan’s heart.
It soon came true.
Yun Manxia ran outside and stopped beside the swimming pool.
“Set the water temperature to sixty degrees Celsius!” she ordered without hesitation.
The temperature-control system began operating. Before long, frightening waves of steam rose from the surface.
Yun Manxia turned around with a malicious smile.
“Young Master Bai, you can come over now!”
Realizing what she intended to do, Bai Chengxuan’s expression became extremely ugly.
It was already the hottest part of summer. Simply standing outside was almost unbearable.
Being forced into water heated to sixty degrees would be nothing short of torture!
When he refused to move, Yun Manxia narrowed her eyes dangerously and turned around.
“Honey, Young Master Bai doesn’t seem convinced.”
Bai Hedu lifted his eyes and backed his young wife without the slightest hesitation.
“Bai Jiangong, your son appears unwilling.”
Cold sweat instantly poured down Bai Jiangong’s face.
He raised his hand and slapped Bai Chengxuan across the face.
“Didn’t you hear what the Ninth Madam said? Get over there!”
Bai Chengxuan’s face shifted between red and green. Left with no choice, he walked to the edge of the pool.
Yun Manxia folded her arms, lifted her chin, and ordered leisurely, “Turn around.”
Bai Chengxuan obeyed with a dark expression.
Yun Manxia raised her foot, then suddenly paused.
“Stick your butt out,” she said.
“What?”
Bai Chengxuan stared at her, wondering whether he had misheard.
Yun Manxia smiled.
“I said, stick your butt out. Otherwise, it’ll be difficult for me to kick you. If you didn’t hear me clearly, I can say it again louder.”
Bai Chengxuan’s face turned livid.
“Yun Manxia, don’t go too far!”
She wanted him to assume such a humiliating position in front of all these people?
What would become of his dignity?
Seeing that he refused to cooperate, Yun Manxia’s expression instantly changed. She gave a cold snort and turned her head.
“Honey—”
“Bai Jiangong,” Bai Hedu said.
Bai Jiangong’s heart tightened.
He bowed with a nervous smile before turning and roaring at his son.
“Hurry up and do what the Ninth Madam told you!”
So what if he suffered a little in the pool?
So what if he lost some dignity?
If they failed to calm Ninth Master’s anger, their entire family could be ruined!
Bai Chengxuan’s expression changed repeatedly.
Under the immense pressure, he was ultimately forced to assume the ridiculous pose in humiliation.
Faint laughter sounded from the surrounding crowd.
Bai Chengxuan felt so humiliated he wanted to disappear. At the same time, rage burned inside him.
With a dark face, he warned in a low voice, “Manxia, I’m giving you one final chance. Apologize to me now, while you still can—”
Before he could finish, a powerful kick struck him from behind.
Splash!
Bai Chengxuan plunged into the pool, sending water flying everywhere.
The scalding water made him scream immediately.
Yun Manxia walked to the pool’s edge and looked down at his miserable state with an ambiguous smile.
“What were you saying just now?”
He was giving her a chance to apologize?
Was there something wrong with this piece of trash’s brain?
Bai Chengxuan struggled to surface.
“Yun Manxia, you…!”
“Here’s a reminder,” Yun Manxia interrupted leisurely. “I’m now Ninth Master’s wife. Given your status, I don’t think you’re qualified to address me by name.”
Bai Chengxuan’s expression froze.
She appeared to be correcting the way he addressed her, but she was actually warning him that her status was now beyond his right to challenge.
After all, Ninth Master stood behind her.
Watching Bai Chengxuan pant helplessly in the water, too furious to speak yet too frightened to retaliate, Yun Manxia felt immensely satisfied.
“You can come out when I’m in a good mood again!”
Leaving those words behind, she turned and returned to Bai Hedu with a spring in her step.
Bai Hedu looked at her.
“Happy now?”
Yun Manxia instinctively started to nod, then suddenly stopped herself.
“Not quite.”
As she spoke, she swept her gaze across the crowd, deliberately lingering on the women who had gossiped earlier.
“Honey, he wasn’t the only person who insulted you!”
The women immediately turned pale.
Who could have expected Ninth Master Bai to appear so suddenly?
More importantly, who could have imagined that he was Yun Manxia’s husband?
Madam Liu and her daughter, who had spoken the most viciously, could barely remain standing.
“N-Ninth Master! We didn’t mean it…”
“They absolutely meant it, Honey!” Yun Manxia interrupted.
She immediately began listing their offenses.
“They repeatedly mentioned Ninth Master Bai by name while insulting you. I tried to stop them, but they refused to listen and even scolded me!”
She looked so aggrieved that anyone unfamiliar with the situation might have thought she had suffered a terrible injustice.
In reality, she had fought the entire group by herself without losing the slightest ground.
Madam Liu and the others, meanwhile, were still standing there drenched and disheveled.
“You’re that angry?”
Bai Hedu looked at her with faint amusement.
Yun Manxia huffed indignantly.
“They insulted you. Of course I’m angry!”
Bai Hedu froze for a moment.
At that instant, an indescribably unfamiliar feeling stirred in his heart.
