The Heartthrob's Suitors All Fell at My Feet

Chapter 9: What's Wrong With You?

Published 2026-07-21

Hadn't he already compensated Mi Ke? What was she doing coming to the sports field to embarrass him? Was she actually

planning to cling to him like a real girlfriend?

The thought made Jiang Muye feel like he'd been slugged by a snail-a visceral, crawling revulsion rising from the pit of

his stomach.

When it came to unattractive people, patience always seemed to run thin.

He strode toward Mi Ke and snatched the A4 paper from her hand. "I told you there's nothing between us. What are you

doing here?!"

Mi Ke's eyelashes flickered. The next second, she looked up at the paper-now with a pen-tip tear in it-in Jiang Muye's

hand. Her voice was even, even puzzled.

"What's wrong with you?"

Mi Ke had always been meek and mild. Even when subjected to harsh words, she'd only ever endured in silence. Hearing her

fire back with such a blunt question made Jiang Muye even more furious.

He opened his mouth to rebuke her-but when his gaze fell on Mi Ke's upturned face, the cruel words died in his throat.

She'd lost twenty jin overnight.

Mi Ke's once-puffy cheeks had slimmed into a smooth oval face, with only a trace of baby fat remaining on her

cheeks-giving her a soft, youthful look rather than a heavy one.

Though still slightly chubby, her tall frame made her fullness read as the curvy, appealing kind-not sloppy or greasy,

but oddly endearing.

Her skin tone had shifted from warm Fair 1 to cool Fair 2. The cool undertone made her complexion appear more

translucent, adding an extra layer of cool elegance to her already sharp-featured face.

Combined with the boost from her upgraded charm value, the Mi Ke looking up at him now had absolutely nothing to do with

the word "ugly."

At first glance, she was gentle and fresh-faced.

Since beauty upgrades automatically eliminated perception dissonance, the Mi Ke before him didn't match the ugly girl in

his memory. He didn't find this strange.
He just found that the sharp words he'd been about to say suddenly wouldn't come out.

But to prevent Mi Ke's feelings from obstructing his pursuit of Song Jingyi, Jiang Muye took a deep breath and spoke

without mercy.

"Mi Ke, you obviously like me. You know why you came here. Don't use the girlfriend label as an excuse to find ways to

get close to me!"

Mi Ke listened to him finish quietly.

She was speechless for two seconds, then raised her hand and pointed at the A4 paper in his hand.

"Do you want to look at what I wrote first?"

Jiang Muye froze. Only then did he remember that when he'd first spotted her, she had indeed been hunched over, writing

with a marker.

He unfolded the A4 paper and looked down.

[Free Sports Rehabilitation]

The characters were written large and dark. Because of Jiang Muye's grab, the final stroke of the last character had

been torn through by the pen tip, leaving a nick in the bottom-right corner of the paper.

Jiang Muye stared, suddenly embarrassed. He asked stiffly, "What is this?"

"Practical work." Mi Ke spoke with breezy indifference. "Sports rehabilitation techniques can only be practiced on

classmates during class, but none of them have actual sports injuries. How am I supposed to know if my techniques

actually work?"

After hearing Mi Ke's matter-of-fact explanation, Jiang Muye's face darkened further.

Not practicing earlier, not practicing later-but coming to the sports field to practice right after getting together

with him. Obviously, she was just trying to get his attention.

"In any case, I hope you remember-I will never like you. Stop doing pointless things." He crumpled the paper into a ball

and tossed it back at her. "Instead of wasting time on this, you'd be better off thinking about how to bring Jingyi and

me closer together!"
