Chapter 12: Don't Serve the Beauty Draft

Published 2026-07-21

At noon, Mi Ke went to the dance studio to wait for Song Jingyi so they could head to the cafeteria together.

Song Jingyi emerged in her dance outfit and spotted Mi Ke, who looked noticeably slimmer. A flicker of confusion passed

through her shimmering eyes.

"Keke." She circled Mi Ke once, frowning as she pinched the soft flesh at her waist. "How did you not only get fairer

but also lose so much weight without me noticing?"

Mi Ke laughed it off. "Maybe my diet's finally working."

Song Jingyi pressed her lips into a thin line but didn't press further.

At the cafeteria, Song Jingyi broke from her usual routine and pushed Mi Ke into a seat. "You save our spot. I'll get

the food."

Before long, Song Jingyi returned with two trays. Her fresh, innocent face beamed with sweetness. "You always get food

for me. Today it's my turn to take care of you!"

Mi Ke lowered her gaze to the tray in front of her.

Braised pork. Potato and chicken stew. Fried eggplant. Preserved vegetable and pork belly. And a massive portion of

rice.

Meanwhile, Song Jingyi's own tray held a tiny fist-sized portion of rice, a side of stir-fried greens, and a small plate

of blanched shrimp.

"Eat up! I picked all the best dishes for you," Song Jingyi urged with a smile, chopsticks in hand.

Yes, they were all delicious, appetite-stimulating dishes. Also very fattening.

Mi Ke smiled without comment. She picked up a piece of braised pork and popped it into her mouth without batting an eye.

Her weight wasn't controlled by calories anymore, after all.

Seeing this, Song Jingyi finally looked satisfied. "That's right! There's no need to suffer and serve the beauty draft

for some guy. Losing weight too fast is terrible for your body!"

Mi Ke's chopsticks paused.

In her previous life, she'd tried to lose weight because of her size. Song Jingyi had given her the same well-meaning

advice.

"Don't serve the beauty draft just because of how others look at you. Who says only thin girls count as beautiful?"

Then, while Mi Ke was dieting and exercising, Song Jingyi would enthusiastically bring her desserts and midnight snacks,

insisting she finish every bite.

Mi Ke had never been able to refuse others' kindness. She'd forced herself to eat it all-and the result was the more she

tried to lose, the more she gained.

After dying once, Mi Ke felt her mind had cleared considerably. She could finally see the problem with Song Jingyi's

rhetoric.

Every girl had the right to pursue beauty. Wanting to improve yourself didn't automatically mean you were serving the

beauty draft.

And while beauty shouldn't be defined by a single standard, the premise was that you were healthy.

Song Jingyi knew full well that Mi Ke's knee joints were worn down from excessive weight. Was shoving high-calorie food

at her really for her own good?

Halfway through the meal, Mi Ke received a WeChat message from Jiang Muye.

[Where are you guys? I'll come eat with you.]

Mi Ke picked up her phone and typed with a deadpan expression.

[Same deal. Create another chance to see Song Jingyi: 2,000.]

[You!!]

Jiang Muye sent a middle-finger emoji and stopped messaging her.

Her phone finally quiet. Mi Ke looked at the screen, the corners of her lips curving in a satisfied arc.

Just then, Song Jingyi leaned over, naturally trying to peek at her phone. "Is that Jiang Muye?"

Mi Ke casually placed the phone face-down on the table. "Mm."

Song Jingyi hadn't expected Mi Ke to make such a defensive gesture. A flash of awkwardness crossed her face before she

deliberately shifted topics. "Now that you're together, why don't you ask him to eat with you?"

"He's too busy with training." Mi Ke put on a troubled look, then quickly smiled again. "But he promised to go hiking at

Qingming Mountain with me this Saturday. We'll have a proper date then."

Song Jingyi frowned, chewing on the end of her chopstick. A trace of surprise flickered through her eyes.

Wasn't the whole point of Jiang Muye being with Mi Ke to get close to her? Why wasn't he using this chance to eat with

her? And the hike-did he have no intention of inviting her along either?

But how could that be? How could Jiang Muye ignore the campus beauty and genuinely fall for a girl like Mi Ke?
